Miss Universe Ukraine 2022 National Costume: “The Warrior of Light”
The “Warrior of Light” costume symbolizes our nation’s fight against darkness. Like Archangel Michael, who defends Ukraine with a sword, it protects us. Viktoriia has a weapon in her hands, her body is covered in armor, and at the same time, she carries light through the darkness that came to our peaceful lands with the aggressor.
The monolithic jumpsuit symbolizes armor and wraps Victoria like a second skin.
The white dress consists of a stylization of a vyshyvanka with puffy sleeves and a skirt that has more than 10 meters of fabric to it.
The headwear is decorated with spikelets, which are traditional in Ukraine.
Symbolic wings are burned in battle, framed in blue and gold armor in the colors of the Ukrainian flag, and decorated with various mirror ornaments, opened for the decisive battle.
The costume was created in Ukraine in four months in extreme conditions, to the sound of sirens, without electricity, and by candlelight.
“At this difficult time for our Motherland, we have long thought: what should be the image that symbolizes our country? What “message” does he have to carry to the whole world? What should his details say? We even held a public vote on what they want to see our country metaphorically: to recreate the tragism of the Ukrainian present or to show Ukraine in a light image that demonstrates the Ukrainian spirit and the strength of our people. The majority voted for the second version. Victoria’s personal vision and her own idea were used to create the image.“

My uncle was one of the top surgeons in the country. He was upper middle class definitely. When he got cancer, his insurance didn’t cover all the treatments he would need and after 5 years he drained his savings on cancer treatments (while still working most of that time) and eventually died because he couldn’t afford the expensive treatments that might have saved him.
If you are upper middle class and you get sick, it will likely bankrupt your family. It’s fucked.

Honest to god - even if you make 6 figures a year? you’re closer to poverty than true wealth. Check your shit and remember who your real allies and enemies are guys.
A 6 figure income is a lot right? That’s say: 223,000 dollars a year Which is 112 dollars an hour. Most people would consider that upper middle class. That’s enough money to have a nice house, go on fun vacations. That’s slight more than the average doctor makes.

There was a wonderful study done about 15 years ago I think, that shows that people cannot accurately identify their income bracket. Most people who own a home think they are upper middle class when in fact they are closer to the poverty line. Even people living well below poverty often identify as middle class. The wealth gap is even worse now. I wonder if anyone actually knows their financial standing.
